Islam in India
Islam in India Islam is the second most prevalent religion in the Indian Republic after Hinduism. The religion of Islam originated in Saudi Arabia 1400 years ago. Prophet Mohammad is considered to be the last prophet who propagated the religion of Islam and founded today's Islam. Islam in India arrived in about 7th century (629 AD) and since then it has been a cultural and religious heritage of India. Has become an integral part of the country which constitutes 14.2% of the country's population (17.2 crores as per 2011 census) . Three of the first mosques in Kilakarai are: - 1. Barwada Mosque in Ghogha, Gujarat (built before 623 AD) 2. Cheraman Juma Mosque in Methla, Kerala (629 AD) 3. Palaiya Jumma Palli of Tamil Nadu (or Old Jumma Mosque - 628- 630 AD). In the early thirteenth century Turks, under the leadership of Mohammad Ghori, captured the Gaddi of Delhi. After this, Sufi
